Ultrasonic level transmitters are non-contact instruments that measure the distance to a liquid or solid surface using sound waves. They work by emitting high-frequency ultrasonic pulses from a transducer (horn) mounted above the material. The sensor then measures the time it takes for the echo to return. Using the speed of sound in the air, the device calculates the distance to the surface and, subsequently, the level within the tank, vessel, or silo.
