Product Description
Ultrasonic level transmitters are non-contact instruments that measure the distance to a liquid or solid surface using sound waves. They work by emitting high-frequency ultrasonic pulses from a transducer (horn) mounted above the material. The sensor then measures the time it takes for the echo to return. Using the speed of sound in the air, the device calculates the distance to the surface and, subsequently, the level within the tank, vessel, or silo. Key advantages include their non-intrusive nature (no contact with the process medium), suitability for a wide range of fluids and bulk solids, ease of installation, and minimal maintenance requirements. They are widely used in water/wastewater, chemical processing, food & beverage, power, and many other industries where reliable, continuous level monitoring is essential. Performance can be affected by heavy foam, vapor, dust, or extreme turbulence.
